Diploma Programs

Upon completion of Automated Office Systems Processor or Office Careers with Computerized Accounting or Microsoft Office Specialist III, or Computerized Financial Accounting or Medical Information Specialist with Externship or Medical Information Specialist Diploma Program, the student will be awarded a Diploma.

To earn a Diploma, the student must complete the program with a C or better overall average. The student must have met or made arrangements to meet all financial obligations to the school. Students must complete no less than 80% of total clock hours on the anticipated date of graduation.

Automated Office Systems Processor
Students completing this program will be qualified to obtain entry-level positions in the secretarial and administrative assistant information processing job cluster. Vocational skills obtained will include keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheet, data base software applications and the integration of these packages for productivity improvement in the workplace. Microsoft Office software is emphasized in this program.

Office Careers with Computerized Accounting
Students completing this program will be qualified to obtain entry-level positions in the financial/accounting job cluster areas. Vocational skills will include manual accounting, functional knowledge of A/R, A/P, payroll, income statements and balance sheet through special journals; computerized accounting including the full accounting cycle for service and merchandise environments. Additional skills will be keyboarding, computer skills for spreadsheets, word processing, Peachtree, QuickBooks and integration of these packages for productivity improvement in the workplace. Microsoft software is emphasized in this program.

Microsoft Office Specialist I
Students completing this program will be qualified to perform a variety of administrative duties in any type of business. Administrative Support positions are employed throughout the economy and their range of duties is broad. Computer skills are a necessary skill set for the Administrative Support job cluster. Students will be using the most current versions of the Microsoft family of products.

Supervisory level managers will oversee supportive services. These positions are found in most business firms.

English as a Second Language

ESLThe three ESL courses (Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced) will provide students with skills that will allow them to enhance their capability of comprehending English on the job.

Additionally, these courses will develop basic reading, listening, understanding, writing, and speaking skills that are necessary in their personal lives and on the job. Lecture, student participation and exercises will be used as the teaching method along with homework. Areas of importance include reading skills, understanding what one reads, writing about a topic, editing skills, vocabulary development, asking questions,
responding to questions, grammatical structure, and oral expression as pertains to
what was read and to classroom dialogue.

Each student will be given a pre-test to determine their appropriate instructional/course level and a post-test, at the end of each course, to determine progress.
